Jump to Recipe
I cook at home a lot, but I also love getting food from restaurants, because who doesn’t? These days it’s all about takeout, as we aren’t dining at restaurants for now.
The last time I ate at a restaurant was in March 2020, and I got these exact waffle fries from the same restaurant.
Now, I have to take them home first if I want them. And you know what happens to food in transit. It can get soggy. It’s definitely not at its prime. But I eat the fries anyway because they are DELICIOUS.
Except I can never eat them all, so there are leftover fries. This used to be disappointing for me, because I don’t like throw away food. But fries? You can’t reheat fries. They’re even more soggy then they were after a 15 minute journey home.
BUT WAIT. Yes, you can reheat fries. And please trust me when I say, they are even crispier, flakier, and more delicious than they were the day before.
Why reheat fries in an air fryer?
If you’re confused about why to reheat fries in an air fryer, here is a list of solid reasons for you:
- eating leftovers instead of throwing them away helps reduce food waste
- potatoes are amazing, and fries are the best form
- you paid for them, so why not eat them?
- they are just as delicious, if not better, hot and crunchy out of the air fryer
- it’s SO easy, and requires no oil
How do you reheat fries in an air fryer?
It is super easy to reheat fries in an air fryer, and is perhaps one of the quickest and easiest ways to use your air fryer. I will never reheat fries another way!
Simply place your leftover fries in a single layer in your air fryer. Try to leave out any crumbs that may fall through into the bottom of the basket.
Turn on the air fryer at 350F and air fryer for 3-6 minutes, depending on your type of fries and how crispy you want them. Most fries will be done within 5 minutes.
Shake the basket halfway through cooking and whenever you check on the fries (it’s a short cook time so it can be often at the end until they are perfect for you!).
There is NO need for oil when you reheat fries in an air fryer!
What temperature is best to reheat fries?
I like to reheat fries at 350F. I think this temperature is a good balance to get the inside of the fries hot while also crisping the fries at a good rate.

Which air fryer do you recommend?
I have only tried two different air fryers in my life, and I upgraded purely to have a larger size basket so I can air fry more foods at once.
The air fryer I use now, and the one that is pictured in this post is the Cosori XL 5.8 qt Air Fryer (affiliate link!). I think if you’re going to invest in an air fryer to cook things for 2 or more people, you should opt for a larger size.

Terrible recommendations, just burnt my waffle fries smh
Danielle says
Can you tell me how long you cooked them for and at what temperature? This would help me out a lot.
The recommendation for waffle fries is to reheat at 350F for 4-5 minutes, and if they’re thinner, start with just 3 minutes. They must have already been well-cooked if they burnt in that short amount of time.
