I just need to rant! I got a nutribullet so excited to try recipes and none of them were really appetizing to me. They were just eh. Practically gave up on it. I got this pb2 and googled a recipe for itโ€” saw this, wasnโ€™t expecting much. But WOW, THIS SMOOTHIE IS SO TASTY. The flavors work so well together. Iโ€™m obsessed. You did great creating this! Iโ€™ll keep buying this powder just so I can make this again and again.

Note from Danielle

Sometimes you buy something at the store because it looks weird and cool. That’s what happened to me with powdered peanut butter. My favorite use for it turns out to be smoothies – especially this one!

I first published this smoothie all the way back in January 2017! And I remember this being one the first recipes I was quite proud of at that time. This smoothie is legitimately my favorite smoothie of all time, and that is no exaggeration.

It’s now May 2024 (holy cow… over 7 years later), and I’ve just given this recipe post a major upgrade. I’ve re-tested the recipe, plus added new photos and hopefully some more helpful information in the content. I’m positive you’ll enjoy this unique smoothie – just check the reviews!!

By the way – here in the post content, youโ€™ll find detailed information on the ingredients used, possible substitutions, and helpful tips for successful results based on my experience with this recipe.

Watch how to make the Peanut Butter Powder Blueberry Cinnamon Smoothie (1 min 17 secs):

What are the ingredients in this Peanut Butter Powder Blueberry Cinnamon Smoothie?

The peanut butter powder is a slightly random ingredient here, but after that, the rest of the ingredients are pretty common for smoothies. Here’s what I put in this smoothie:

  • greek yogurt – For this smoothie, Greek yogurt is used to make it extra creamy and add additional protein.
  • unsweetened vanilla almond milk – I like using this as a base for my smoothies for the creamy yet neutral taste. You could probably skip the vanilla almond milk and use water if needed.
  • vanilla protein powder – Use your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder to add protein to this smoothie.
  • peanut butter powder – There are a few brands of peanut butter powder; in this recipe, I used PB2, and more recently, PB Fit.
  • cinnamon – The key ingredient, the one that made a ‘meh’ smoothie into an ‘OMG’ smoothie – is the CINNAMON. Do not forget the cinnamon.
  • frozen blueberries & banana – The frozen fruits give the smoothie flavor, color and chill. I think you’ll be surprised how the cinnamon works with the banana and blueberries!

What is peanut butter powder?

Let’s talk about peanut butter powder. Mysterious PB powder. It’s just peanuts pressed so that the fat and oils are removed. It tastes virtually the same as normal peanut butter (once you add some water to the powder).

The most popular brand of powdered peanut butter is PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter. You can also use PB Fit Peanut Butter Powder, which is what I found at Costco. It looks like a lot but starts going pretty fast when you use it for smoothies all the time.

Equipment needed to make this smoothie:

Of course, none of this could be possible without my handy NutriBullet. Smoothie making machine since ’14!

It’s not the most powerful thing out there, but it does the job dependably for a super sweet low price (especially at Costco!). Of course, you can use any high-powered blender or a Vitamix if you have it.

How to make this Peanut Butter Blueberry Cinnamon Smoothie:

This Peanut Butter Blueberry Cinnamon Smoothie is made just like any other smoothie you make at home! Simply put all your ingredients into the blender and let it go to town.

If it’s a bit too thick or not blending well, add a couple tablespoons more milk. If there’s any powder or yogurt stuck on the sides, open up the blending and push the sides down with a spatula.

And that’s it! This is truly one of my favorite smoothies to make. It’s quick, easy and absolutely incredible. The hardest part (for me!) is remember to freeze my bananas!

How to store leftover blueberry cinnamon smoothie:

Store leftover smoothie by freezing in cubes, and then reblending with more almond milk when needed.

I absolutely hate bananas but am intrigued by the rest of the ingredients together. Ideas for what to replace with the banana?

Hi Sarah – I haven’t tested this myself but my best suggestion to replace the banana would be to add another scoop of yogurt, some ice cubes, and maybe 2 tablespoons of quick oats if you have it, just to help thicken. Please let me know how it turns out if you do experiment without the banana! -Danielle
